Rassam

(Serves: 2)

Ingredients
  • 1big tomato
  • 5tsp tamarind pulp
  • 1/2tsp whole black pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 10 curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • A few coriander leaves
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 red chilli whole
  • 1/2 tsp oil
How to make
  1. Grind cumin seeds, pepper and garlic for a few seconds in a mixer.
  2. Take tamarind extract, add chopped tomato, few curry leaves,turmeric powder, crushed pepper, cumin, garlic and salt. Boil them together.
  3. Once it starts boiling, keep the flame low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes .
  4. Heat the oil and add mustard seeds to it. When it begins to splutter, add the red chilli, curry leaves and pour it over the Rasam.
  5. Garnish with coriander.
